The NGO Un Mundo Sin Mordaza released the second edition of The Right Cut contest, with the support of Amnesty International, in association with the French Embassy in Venezuela, the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies of Harvard University and the Twitter platform.
The second edition of The Right Cut will illustrate, denounce and produce solidarity over fundamental human rights, especially those related with freedom of speech. People interest in participating, from anywhere in the American continent and over 18 years old, will exploit their talents and give voice to human rights violations.
The jury responsible for analyzing each short film to subsequent awards will consist of: Gabriel Brener, Michael Labarca, Patricia Ortega and Rafael Marziano.
Participants of the contest could be rewarded with:
Best short film for Human Rights and Democracy: the prize will be awarded by the French Embassy in Venezuela.
The author of the winning short film of “Best short film French Embassy Prize” will be invited to the Cinéma et Droits Humains Festival, organized by Amnesty International France in Paris, to show his or her short film, which will take place on November 8, 9 and 10, 2019.
Best Short Film Freedom of Speech Prize: awarded by Twitter Inc.
The author of the winning short film of “Best Short Film Twitter Prize” will be invited by Twitter Inc. to show his or her short film in Washington DC. (USA), in an event organized by them, which will take place on December 2019.
Best Short Film for Fundamental Right to Education: the prize will be awarded by the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies of Harvard University.
The author of the winning short film of “Best short film David Rockefeller Center Prize” will be invited by the David Rockefeller Center to show his or her short film at Harvard University in Boston (USA), which will take place in the first week of December 2019.
